Labradorite

Labradorite belongs to the Feldspar group of crystals (the same group as Moonstone that we connected with last week). It was first identified on Paul’s Island in Labrador, Canada but is now found in other locations worldwide. The colour of Labradorite can be grey-green, dark grey, black or greyish-white and it displays an iridescent optical effect (or schiller) in flashes of peacock blue, gold, orange and green. This flash is known as labradorescence. Some rarer forms of Labradorite may be known as Spectrolite and this displays a spectrum of richer colours including red and purple.

Labradorite is known as the Stone of Magic. It is a crystal of shamans, diviners and healers and is said to help develop the sensitivity of the hands in those who use the power of touch to heal. It is a crystal for self-discovery, self-awareness and connecting with our inner spirit. It is also said to be good for enhancing psychic abilities and intuition.

Labradorite is an ideal crystal to use for meditation as it assists with going deeper and connecting with ones higher self and spirit guides.

Robert Simmons:

Wearing or carrying Labradorite allows one's innate magical powers to surface. It enhances the mental and intuitive abilities of clairvoyance, telepathy, prophecy and coincidence control (synchronicity) and assists in communication with higher guides and spirits in accessing Akashic records, psychic readings and past-life recall. It provides an ease in moving between the worlds, and permits a safe and grounded return to the present.

Labradorite is a powerful protector, creating a shield throughout the aura whilst strengthening from within. It can calm the negative side of our personality, help to reduce reckless or impulsive behaviour and can help those who are easily led into trouble by others. It is an uplifting crystal and can help return joy and spontaneity back into ones life.

Labradorite is said to be beneficial to the lungs, digestion and metabolism. It has been used for treatment of the eyes and to help reduce stress and anxiety. It may also help lower blood pressure, reduce sensitivity to cold and alleviate rheumatism & gout.

Sue Weaver:

Labradorite helps to learn from memories and relate them to our present lifetime. It also assists in having awareness of other times and other lives.

Labradorite is a personal favourite of mine at this time in my life and I find that placing it on my 3rd eye during meditation certainly takes me deeper.
