Chrysocolla

Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate and has a colour ranging from dark blue, through turquoise to green. Its hardness can vary from 2 (very soft) to 7 if it has quartz or opal present to make it harder. It is often found with malachite and azurite.

Chrysocolla is associated with the throat chakra and also the heart & root. It is a stone of communicating true expression of one’s inner wisdom, and wearing it near the throat can help with profound speech. It encourages us to reveal our highest knowledge so that others may benefit from our experiences. In this regard it is a good teaching stone and is also a good crystal for those who speak for a living.

Chrysocolla is a peaceful stone. It is a stone of compassion, forgiveness, tranquillity and teaches about kindness and patience. Chrysocolla is a stone of empowerment of the feminine energies, teaching that genuine power is best expressed through gentleness.

Chrysocolla is a talisman for musicians when learning a new musical instrument, joining a choir or playing in public. In the workplace it helps to calm stress and can help encourage inspiration by combining creative ideas with new practical applications. It is also said that chrysocolla would be a good crystals for monks, hermits or inmates as it can reduce anxiety and depression that comes with seclusion.

Physically chrysocolla can help with diabetes and the regulation of the thyroid & adrenals. It is good for sore throats, laryngitis and other throat related problems. It can help to reduce blood pressure and help with problems in the lungs. It is beneficial to women to help reduce menstrual cramps.

Michael Gienger:

Chrysocolla encourages a balanced nature and self-awareness. It helps us accept situations that are constantly changing and to pursue our own goals in spite of ups and downs.

My experience of living with Chrysocolla;

I didn’t know until after I had lived with chrysocolla, that it is a talisman for musicians. I am a pianist and have been without a piano for about 5 years now. On the first day that I carried this crystal, I ordered a new piano. It has felt amazing to be playing music again and I even got invited by a friend who plays harp, to practise with her.

Chrysocolla has also played a large part with communication this week. I have been training a person to do my old job that I have left and it has been rather challenging. I have had to be patient and tolerant even though I have been feeling rather stressed by it and have also had to be clear in my communication so that she understands something that is new to her.

There was another situation with a close friend where we had a misunderstanding by not communicating properly. It was quickly resolved by both of us remaining calm and talking it through.
